OUR STORY
Trained in the art of pattern-cutting, Laura Jasiunaite is an independent designer and pattern-cutter based in London.
Having graduated from London College of Fashion in BA Fashion Pattern Cutting, she has developed her craft in garment construction, demonstrating her skills with every cut, etch and stitch. Utilising her expertise to create formfitting quintessential clothes with a contemporary zest.
She independently operates her eponymous label from her studio in Haggerston, East London.
Her brand’s genesis was born out of personal concern about the global issue of overconsumption. Witnessing the immense urban squalor of ‘Smokey Mountain’ in the Manila, Philippines, she saw the final reality for clothes in landfill and the damaging consequences to our planet.
Unnerved by this vision, she returned to home and started her debut collection. Through her garments, Laura wants to instil and incite consumers to be conscious consumers, and to care and respect their own wardrobes.
The current collection is a playful anthology on the deconstruction of garments. Several looks are comprised of garments combined together, designed to be worn multiple ways by buttoning them up in a variety of ways.
Draping is a signature of Laura’s work, modifying and augmenting traditional cutting and draping techniques, to create innovative garments that sculpt around the body.
Laura challenges the idea of what a white shirt should ‘look’ like by turning it upside down, reorients what an LBD should be by adding volume in unexpected places and creating sculptural piece.
Every garment is made from natural fibres, including cotton, linen, silk and wool, with the addition of innovative materials such as Pineapple Leather and Pineapple and abaca fibre sourced from the Philippines.
Laura believes in only using natural materials from the Earth, to be returned to the Earth.
